Staff Gems - Martin Guilbault

We’re back for another year! This month, we’re featuring Martin Guilbeault, one of our after-sales representatives. Based out of our head off in Lévis, Martin is a cyclist through and through. While he didn’t grow up riding, a chance encounter with the magazine rack at a service station was his entry into the sport, where he laid eyes and purchased a BMX racing magazine that he says “hooked me in and changed my life”

Despite no longer racing, Martin still trains hard as the performance side of cycling is his main motivation, competing against himself and his best performances. A bit of snow and cold won’t stop him; you can find him on his trusty fat bike through the winter rather than on the trainer. Check out his selections from the HLC catalogue below and see what stands out for his use

Garmin Edge 1050 – A Garmin Edge fan, Martin says this may be his 10th version that he’s using. An early adopter of new models as they come out, the 1050 comes loaded with features that not only help track the data he collects, but also keeps routes, climbs and workouts neatly organized.

Look  Blade 795 RS – As one of the service guys who works closely with Look, it was natural that Martin ends up riding the flagship 795. A true rocket ship, it has powered him up some of the most famous Cols in France and the fastest group rides around Quebec City. Bonus, with all the time he spends in the saddle, its just helps bring better service to you and your shop when you need it.

ABUS Airbreaker 2.0 - We’re featuring a recent upgrade for Martin! A longtime user of the Gamechanger 1.0, an upgrade to the new 2.0 was definitely an expected move for him. While he hasn’t had a chance to really put it through its paces quite yet, he is excited about the fit and the sunglass holder upgrade. More incoming as the weather gets better through 2026.

Michelin Pro 5 TLR - After trying multiple options from other brands, the combination of rolling resistance and weight made this a winning combination for Martin. While he recognizes that he hasn’t consulted the charts of which tires may save the most watts while riding, for Martin, its all about the best possible feeling while on the bike, and the Michelin Pro 5 tires are a clear winner for him.
